Kassel has about 200,000 inhabitants and is the third largest city in the state of Hesse after Frankfurt am Main and Wiesbaden. The student residence is located in the north of Kassel in the district of Rothenditmold and is very centrally located. It is only about 1200 meters from the city center and the main train station. The university is also within walking distance and is only 1,100 meters away. Shops for daily needs and service providers as well as a hospital are also within walking distance and accordingly, the Mombachstraße residential complex is very popular by students.
The residential complex was built in 1996 and has been completely refurbished in 2018 to the present day. All apartments have been equipped with modern, hard-wearing floors, high-quality bathrooms and fully furnished including kitchenette.
In recent years, the residential complex has been fully let throughout, also due to the steadily increasing number of students. While the number of students was 18,000 in 2010, the number of students has now risen to just over 25,000 (winter semester 2019). Due to the immense demand and the need for additional living space, especially for apartments and small flats, the residential complex will be expanded in 2021/22 with a modern new building with all amenities such as concierge, bistro, learning rooms, wash lounge and additional common areas.
These facilities can of course be used by all tenants and thus additionally enhance the quality of living in the existing buildings.
